A year has gone by since last we darkened the door of Dr. Tongue's 3-D House of Pancakes in Motel Village. Our waitress was very nice and friendly and about two days away from giving birth to twins. Cosmic convergence rears its head again -- the Sinottes are about the same temporal distance from become grandparents again themselves. Lawrence mentioned that he's been getting some e-mails from Bob in Malta (after a bit of computer folderol involving missing e-mail addresses, I got 'em and will continue to get 'em, too.) Here's a pic Bob sent us of a Kaffee Klatsch, Malta style. He promises to be in the next one himself...

The Cafe Du Brazil is located around the corner from us in Victory Square. The square is in the small village we are living in and is the centre for the community. The various shops are spread around the perimeter. The plaque on the wall at the top left in the picture identifies where the Knights of St. John hanged folks in the 15th century. Once hanged, they were buried in the square and apparently I regularly walk on a bunch of them every morning when I go out to get bread. The lady below the plaque with the yellow thing on her head is very friendly but absolutely and completely nuts. She comes over at least once each day we visit and says something to us. No one knows what it is she says -- the only thing we're sure of is that it is not a known language. Our friends tell us that her husband manages successfully to get her committed each year about Christmas time so he can go out drinking, unimpeded, with his buds. The folks with Dawne live above the Cafe and are Brits who have lived in Malta for 14 years. I'll try to find someone to take a pic where I appear as well. We are rather spoiled given a stop about 12:30 every day of the week has become the way of things.
