Hoover dam is just a short drive down the road from Las Vegas so Dibgy and the Mayor figured they'd go take a gander at it. At 726 feet, Hoover Dam is the highest concrete dam in the western hemisphere. It is 660 feet thick at its base, 45 feet thick at its crest, and stretches 1,244 feet across the Black Canyon. There are 4.4 million cubic yards of concrete in the dam, power plant and related structures. More than 35 million visitors have toured the dam and power plant since 1937. More than 1,200,000 people now take the tour each year. In April 2000, Digs and Hizzoner were two of 'em.
