This life-size, hand-painted replica of Norman Rockwell's famous magazine illustration "The Golfers" is sculpted entirely out of macaroni and ear wax (which lends it its astonishingly life-like quality). Because the wax tends to run on warm summer days, the sculpture is kept, for much of the golfing season, in the cold storage room at the Rosebud Funeral Parlour and Cosmetology School where it has given more than one apprentice undertaker the heebee jeebees. Due to the frigid temperatures on the day of the Ice Golf 99 Celebrity Invitational, organizers prevailed upon course administrators to bring the treasured art work out to add a high-brow touch to the event. Sharp-eyed Rosebud residents have noted that "The Golfers" bear a striking resemblance to local musical celebrities the Rosebud Siamese Triplets. It is suspected that a former employee of the Rosebud Funeral Parlour and Cosmetology School (who left under shadowy circumstances) took a few liberties with his new Junior Undertakers Makeup Kit and altered the faces. Any cold storage room witnesses to the act would have been, of course, unavailable for comment. |
